A Fly fishing session took place at Pendle View Fisheries on Friday 15th June from 3pm -8pm as part of the Lancashire Sport and Sported fishing activities. Fishing continued on Friday 22nd June, Friday 29th June, Friday 6th, 13th and 20th July 3-8pm which was a mixture of course and fly fishing.
On Thursday 26th July fishing took place from 10am -5pm and again on Thursday 2nd, 9th and 16th August at the same times. Again a mixture of course and fly fishing.
An article and photograph appeared regarding our youth fishing group in the Clitheroe Advertiser on Thursday 14th June stating that £2,000 had been awarded towards a new lake and education building which isn't the case. We are planning for a new lake and building at Pendle View Fisheries but we need at least £80,000 to £100,000 and seeking funding from Sport England and may well have to create a new group specifically for this project and likely to be called Ribble Valley Fishing Buddies to incorporate adults to fit with the requirements for Sport England. A meeting for this took place at Pendle View Fisheries on Thursday 19th July at 6.30pm.
The £1,860.00 awarded in the photograph is from Sported and we also recently obtained some funding from Lancashire Sport but these sums of money are specifically for the everyday fishing costs such as the current fees charged at Pendle View, purchase of some basic equipment, night fishing fees, travel to other fishing sites, photographs, some very basic admin costs for stamps, envelopes, paper as everything costs, competition entry fees, purchase of trout once caught as just some examples. Lancashire Sport required registration forms to be completed which made this task even more difficult only paid for those young people over the age of 14! However we are indebted to Sported and Lancashire Sport for their valued support.
New members always welcome and should contact Mel Diack MBE Chairman for further details. More fishing dates to be announced. Tel: 01254 823012
