Presentation of Medals to Sam Brearley
A presentation took place on Wednesday 30th June at 3pm at the Ribble Valley Borough Council Chambers. Deputy Lord Lieutenant Peter Robinson, O.B.E, the Mayor of the Ribble Valley Borough Council, Councillor Mrs L Rimmer and the Mayor of Clitheroe Councillor Alan Yearing and Lieutenant Colonel Leanda Pitt O.B.E, TD, DL and members of the youth group presented Sam Brearley with his medals. Sam has waited over 65 years for his medals and through this project we were able to obtain these for him. Our thanks go to everyone involved ranging from the Clitheroe, Padiham and Burnely British Legion. Ribble Valley Borough Council for the use of the facilities our Honoured Guests, our veterans who turned up along with family members who lost loved ones during the war or post war. The local press iand the BBC and Granada TV and was shown on thier respective news programmes. BBC Lancashire Radio. The National lottery filmed this presentation and more snippets of the project.
Book Case
Waterloo Timber in Clitheroe are currently working on the Book Case that will contain the Roll of Honour.
Castle Museum
Discussions are taking place with the Manager of the Castle Museum to display the Roll of Honour and Braille Book sometime in November this year.
Religious Ceremony - Roll of Honour and Braille Books
Discussions are taking place with the local Church Leaders to hold a regious ceremony for the Roll of Honour and Braille Book when finished and this is likely to be in September this year.
