We have been in touch with the Sawley, Gisburn and Bolton By Bowland Parish Council to ask who is responsible for the poor state of the memorial at Sawley which has eight or ten servicemen's names on from World War One which one can hardly read. Early communications back from them has not been positive or supportive. In fact they have stated that they have had no community interest in this which can't be right. They will keep this under review! Our chairman wrote a letter to the local paper and several residents from Sawley have rung him to say that they have had no support from the Parish Council. This isn't good. We have now been in touch with the Ribble Valley Borough Council who are looking into this with the Parish as they also need to determine who would be responsible for maintaining this memorial if money was to be found!
